Nubiyan Twist Are Coming To The Tramshed This April

Nubiyan Twist, the genre-hopping nine-piece collective have announced a return to Cardiff on the band’s 2025 UK tour.

Touching down at Cardiff’s prime live music venue, Tramshed on Friday 18 April, fans can expect ultra-tight musicianship and a powerful big band sound when Nubiyan Twist weave through their famed eclectic style of jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, dancehall, soul, reggae and dance. Tickets on sale at 10am on Friday 10 January via Ticketek.

Nubiyan Twist last performed to music-lovers in Cardiff at The Globe as recently as May 2024, but high demand and the band’s catapulting profile now see them move up the ranks to the larger, 1,000 capacity Tramshed.

Nubiyan Twist, led by founder Tom Excell and vocalist Aziza Jaye, are on a fresh musical odyssey following the release of their vibrant fourth album, 'Find Your Flame’ (May 2024). Over 12 tracks, the album marked a significant evolution for the group, peppered with impressive collaborations, including musical legends Nile Rodgers and Seun Kuti who brought their trademark disco and afrobeat mastery to tracks ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Carry Me’ respectively.

Nubiyan Twist are thrilling on the alternative music scene with multiple UK tours under their belt, and making regular appearances at Glastonbury, We Out Here and Edinburgh Jazz Festival. Consistently playlisted on BBC 6 Music, performing live sessions with Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2, and a prestigious invitation to Later…with Jools Holland, Nubiyan Twist’s exploration of infectious grooves continues to mesmerise audiences wherever they land.

In Cardiff, the band will receive support from NOOKEE. Fronted by identical twin sisters, this six-piece band weaves blood-matched harmonies through genre-defying sounds, likened to that of Frank Zappa and Earth, Wind & Fire. Unrestrained by any method, expect an all-out sensory performance of outfits, props, narrative and theatrics.

The Grade II listed Tramshed boasts a stellar programme for 2025, and Nubiyan Twist is just one of many hot tickets coming up, including Kenny Thomas, Gok Wan, Kelly Lee Owens, White Denim, Gentleman's Dub Club, The Zutons and The Undertones.
